A smart box for your groceries from HomeValet and Walmart

Get fresh groceries delivered (even frozen goods!) when you're not home

Even with people working from home for most of 2020, finding the right time to get groceries can be extremely challenging, especially when your schedule is not a traditional one. With that in mind, Walmart is testing a new program that enables fresh and frozen grocery delivery to customers, even when they're not home (currently only available in Bentonville, Arkansas).

This is possible thanks to temperature-controlled smart boxes that are placed right outside of your home. These boxes, powered by HomeValet, are equipped with three different temperature-controlled sections so that frozen and refrigerated items can be stored safely along with regular pantry items. So not only do you not have to worry about being home to receive a delivery, you also don't have to worry about your groceries staying fresh. And unlike Walmart's InHome Delivery, there's no need for anyone to enter your home to drop off your groceries.

When it’s time for a delivery, the smart box will communicate with the delivery provider’s device, granting them secure access to the box so they can complete the delivery. So you don't have to worry about porch pirates getting a free meal on you!
